Almost installed on a v10 console, just need to trace out point K, going to connect to ground as a test run.

---Edit---
Connected point K to the left of Point I on modchip install diagrams, identified in the service manuals as pin 78. Point J was traced to IC mentioned in one of Kel's posts. Pin 2 near point J in the v9 image. L1 and L2 are connected. 5v is taken from a romeo mod 5v source. Ground is near a Zif socket on the outer edge of the board.

Switching the power supply master switch on results in fan spinning up, power and eject dont function and the only way to run off the console is with the master switch. I better go over and double check with my work.

Will see if I can reach kel, and see what he thinks.

Hope everyone is safe and healthy in these times,
HaloSlayer255

i just built one of these boards for my V10 (GH-026) and it didn't work either. on powerup, i got a nasty grinding noise from the optical drive, and it wouldn't read discs. i quickly took it apart and disconnected the board, did the romeo mod instead.

is this mod dependent on the actual pickup in the console? the V9 and V10 either came with the Sanyo HD7 or Sony 400C, mine is the latter. (thankfully)

Seems I have to find out where the mechacon signal is for the v10 board. Otherwise the comsoft fix just powers off the console.

The romeo mod is needed for any optical assembly whether KHS-400C or HD7.

If I eventually find the mechacon point I'll update the post and provide an updated schematic.

Hope everyone is staying safe,

Apparently people are having issues finding this online and the only thing I can find myself is some guy selling it pre-programmed, so here are the files and some other V12 stuff you may be confused about (0805 package on summ0ne for ease of soldering).

Hello,
@HaloSlayer255, how are you doing? I'd like to know if this component is enough to transfer the hex code to the 12PIC in order to make the PICFIX mod(https://m.pt.aliexpress.com/item/32840063798.html…) and I'd also like to know where I can find a tutorial to do so. Ty.

There are also some PIC12C508A variants(https://www.mouser.com/c/?q=12C508A). Should I pick one specifically or it doesn't matter. Thanks again 👍

Sorry for the late reply JackSparrow, that adapter will work but you'll need a programmer to write the hex file.

A TL866++ will work but might be outdated at this point. If you can find it a PIC Kit 4 should work and is still being updated.

I've not purchased a pic kit 4 but might do so to program som 16f18325 chips for another project.

As for the 12C508 all of the following should work.

12C508
12C508A
12F508
12F508A
12C509
12C509A
12F509
12F509A

Not sure what the A is for, maybe a little bit more memory able to be written to.

I recommend using the 12F508 chips, if something goes wrong writing the hex file you can blank the chip and try again.

Sorry for the late reply and hope this answers your questions.

Have a good day,
HaloSlayer255
