I started this desperate thread on assembler last year :

In November of 2002, fileplanet offered a download of the "Play Test" (beta) version of "The SIMS Online" for a limited time, to registered fileplanet users only.

"SIMS001 TSO Play Test"

I finally managed to get my hands on some "The Sims Online" discs and it had the infamous "Play Test Disc...2" in it...ya, Disc 2 only... :(
Im happy I got this far already, but I cant install it (yet), as it just has a 600mb CAB file on it.

I explored it a bit and it has hundreds of scripts, sound files and old DeluxePaint graphics. Too much too explore and share as words.
:)

It says version 1.3.2.86 though on the playdisc...
which should be the beta test...but it says Version 1.0 on the official discs ("charter edition")

The beta download back in 2002 was :
SimsOnline1.3.2.114.ZIP

I even managed to find a Client on an old Electronic Arts ftp server, which still downloaded the full game...I didnt dare to enter an illegal key, to check if it would still go online...

Sadly it wasnt the beta anyway and its all gone by now. :'(

As soon as I get my hands on the 1st beta installation disc, I will go for a deep inspection...and will talk ! ;D

Here is a photo of Disc 2...in case you stumble across disc 1... :)

Betaarchive claims to have the betas for this game but I don't have ftp access. The beta was also destributed through ea's website, But I'd need the original site url to see if that was saved or not, and that would just be the launcher and not the full game.

Thanks !

I lost my BA account due to an emailprovider suddenly terminating its freemail service. :(

Guess I got to register at BA again.

Are you sure disc 1 was part of the prototype? A lot of press kits are set up where one disc is all marketing/news material (screenshots, etc.) and another is the prototype. I've seen people release just the prototype disc, but not the asset/marketing disc. Since this has a CAB file on it, I'd assume it's the game.

@ItsMeMario I think this is what you want.

The Sims Online (0.4) (2002) Play Test:

All credit to oduska @ BA for originally dumping this and providing the scans.

I've sent you a message with a link, I only have a free Mega account so posting a public link is not ideal sadly. However hopefully you can mirror if anyone else also wants this.

Hmm... I may should move the miror of largedownloads.ea.com on my ftp.
Never realize that they are so good stuff on it. :D
I found a largedownloads.ea.com/pub/misc/tso/Setup The Sims Online.exe with the size 126.976 Bytes. Interesting?

EDIT:
Oh and may someone find it cool:
https://simstek.fandom.com/wiki/Maxis_Protocol (already mirrored in the IA by me)

I edited my post.
If you want, I can turn up my IA downloader to save everything they saved.

EDIT: I dont have an ss07 folder in my backup. But no problem to grab it from IA.
Ah I see why, my backup is older.

EDIT2: Everything the wayback saved of largedownloads.ea.com, between 2015 & 2019
