Hi All, I recently picked this up from YAJ, had no idea what it was but given the Sega branding and Mega Drive style pads I thought I would pull the trigger and then do some research on it.

Whilst waiting for it to arrive I had a dig around on the net but found nothing! Well apart from LEXTEK being a Chinese motorcycle parts supplier. Also posted on Instagram but that’s didn’t help either.

It has now arrived and despite the auction stating it powered on I can’t get it going, tried the original power pack which has some damage and 2 x 3rd party equivalents, still not getting any power. I am very much an amateur when it comes to such things....

So to that end, I’m asking for some help...

1. is there anyone in the UK that may be able to either do a diagnostic or help get it up and running?

2. Any ideas on what it actually is?

Probably some sort of kiosk unit?
Take it apart and show us the insides, please.

Yeh I thought that or a Hotel based unit?

Here are the insides, I haven’t dare remove the smaller board to get to those chips;

Quick update, thanks to a keen eye on Instagram form the user Kilder, the last pic shows an NEC chip the “NEC D4502161G5” seems to be a late revision Mega Drive under the hood!

It does look like it's using a Megadrive as some sort of parts lookup kiosk unit. There's definitely some extra stuff going on in there too though...curious as to what all that is for...
Like the buttons...I doubt the unit was supposed to be accessed by a user, but more of a staff person. So possibly different "programs"? I dunno, very curious if you manage to get it turned on

@Bad_Ad84 I know you don’t do this sort of stuff anymore but would you know someone on the trade who might be able to help? Thanks

I am pretty sure it's gonna be a hotel unit actually considering the chinese text on the case i tried to google translate. It's not gonna be arcade system as it uses normal controllers.

This is clearly junk, you should give it to me :D

Very Nifty piece of tech. I love that it has RGB VGa outs!

Ha! Well it is still junk at the min, looks like I have a volunteer to take a look at it. So 🤞.

Hopefully that RGB VGA will be outputting something soon.

Funnily enough I stumbled upon both of these references to “Lextek” when I googled them.

I assume the above referenced tech is produced by the same company and there is some sort of connection in that they developed other video game related stuff but apart from that I couldn’t find any other info.

Its repaired, here are some more pics.

LM7805 was dead, it also had space to be bolted to the PCB to dissipate heat, but the hole was filled with solder and was left floating free. Cleared out the hole and bolted it down.

@Bad_Ad84 Amazing, thanks so much for the help!

So we are repaired and have power, the latest conundrum is how to get the actual Mega Drive up and running, there is currently no cart slot and no onboard storage/memory for games so the latest thinking is something was due to come via the parallel port.
Any ideas out there?
