Hey all just wanted to share a recent experience I had from buying NES Classic consoles on eBay.

Evidently there are some really well done (still look like shite)NES rip off clones out there.

On the left here is our fake vs the one on the right being a legitimate EU edition NES Classic. Take note to the color of print on the front as well as the number for player slots not being in the correct place.

The base tends to be more of a give away. The font is NOT correct inside the standard Nintendo oval logo as well as the rest of the verbiage on bottom doesn’t appear as clean compared to a legit one.

Top is fake here vs bottom legit.
The fake’s HDMI logo is crooked as well as color being off. The ports upon closer inspection are lesser quality as well.

The color is very different here and is obvious. The one on the left is real vs the fake. The Nintendo logo is the wrong shade of red. Buttons feel spongy. They even went out of their way to put the Nintendo logo on the plug which does look like the proprietary one from the Wii days.

The seller legitimately believed he had a real one when he sold it. He did state the controller might have been faulty because it wouldn’t respond during Super Mario Bros. But as it turned out Hakchi wouldn’t connect which forced me to look at it closer to find I had been duped. Needless to say I’ll be destroying this thing so as to not wind up with someone else facing the same thing. I just wanted to warn anyone looking to mod one or have a bit of fun with these devices cuz they are pretty neat, be cautious and ask your seller for LOTS of pictures especially of the bottom.
